Good evening District 8 family, Just a quick reminder there is no school this Wednesday as the board has allowed us extra time for Parent/Teacher Conferences. Conferences have or are being scheduled. Secondly, please remember to continue using safety measures as we go into a 5 day weekend for students. We want to continue to have students in school with as much personal choice on wearing mask. All District 8 schools will be CLOSED tomorrow, Monday, October 12, 2020. We were informed of a positive case of COVID – 19 in one of our schools. We are currently working on a list of all close contacts. Once we have a definite list, we will be in contact with them by phone. This will not be completed before the start of school tomorrow. This closure will be treated like a storm day and Administration will contact any staff that may need to be in the building. The district understands that you may have questions and concerns. However, we ask that you do not call during this time as it will only slow down the process and delay our students getting back to school. Thank you for your cooperation!

District 8 families, We just wanted to inform everyone the school board met last night and approved administrations recommendation to remove the Orange Phase from our Health & Safety Smart Restart Plan. It is agreed and understood by administration that we will stay in Yellow Phase until we either move to Green or can no longer educate our students safely. With this change, starting on Monday. October 5, 2020 every student in the district will be allowed one opportunity to voluntarily switch to Distance Learning at any time throughout the time we are under the Governors Executive Order. This was done because of the great job everyone is doing to protect our district. We ask that parents and staff continue to monitor our health and stay home if sick. Thank you for your cooperation.

Dear Hawk Family, How are you doing? D8 recognizes this is a very stressful time for families so I wanted to reach out and remind you that the school does have resources for students who may need them. Teachers are noticing stress in students and we would like to encourage all parents to sit down with each child in your household individually and ask how they are doing. Here is a link to "How to talk to your kids about CoVID" if you go to this link and scroll down quite a bit there is a "Mental Health" section which includes warning signs to watch for regarding your child's mental health. Learning is important, but your child's health and well-being are our primary concern. Attendance is really important so that teachers can check in with kids and kids can see each other. Please keep encouraging kids to login. Don't worry about grades, let your child know that we just want them to try and we want to see them because we care. If your child is stressed about "failing," please assure them that we are working hard to figure out ways that we can help ALL kids get caught up. If you have any questions, need to talk or you think your child needs mental health assistance, please contact any of the following. . . School Counselor Reichman, nerida.reichman@k12.nd.us Principal Smith, robert.c.smith@k12.nd.us Principal Guglich, steven.guglich@k12.nd.us Superintendent Zietz, beth.zietz@k12.nd.us Principal Morey, michaela.morey@k12.nd.us Your child's teacher would also be a good source if your child is struggling.
